That second group isn't too bad Sterling.  I'm sure it will breakin in somewhat as time goes on.  But your old Savage was a better shooter out of the box.  I still have my old Model 12 we used to take to the range.  It shot these two groups working up my 40gr V-max loads.  Five shots at 100 yards.  I tried the On Target Precision Calculator and the CTC on the group at the right is 0.043 inches.  Not bad for a stock Savage.

Shot a couple more groups.
John; I think your right my other Savage was more accurate but it was heavier
so I think I held it still better
This one is lighter with a Flimsy stock, I need to bed it.
Also these groups are all shot off the Bipod, I think I hold it steadier off the Pod

Then those are pretty good groups then off of a bi-pod.  That .17Rem I made out of the .223 Savage Weather Warrior is sure a tack driver.  It's a pencil barreled Pac-Nor barrel I had made up for it.  It's really light weight.
