so im a shottgunner and new to rifles and i was wondering what the difference is between a regular barrel and bull barrel thanks...

Bull barrels don't taper they are thick all the way to the muzzle. Not really to handy for hunting but make excellent target rifles.

They are inherently more accurate (supposedly) than sporter barrels.  They are also a great deal heavier but are supposed to take longer to heat up.  Along with that, it takes them longer to cool down.

About 10 yrs ago I had a chance to bs with a guy from a gun maker.
He said the bull barrels were made with higher quality steel.

Some might but many would not be. The "quality" test would go along the lines of the price though and that would be specific to aftermarket barrels more so than to factory barrels, unless you are buying a top end brand of rifle.
