Land Rover, over here we call them gophers and in some areas in Alberta and Saskatchewan they are a plague. They dig up farmer's fields and resemble a moon scape. Their proper name is a Richardson Ground Squirrel. 200 acre fields can be so polluted with them, you can shoot for hours and come back week after week and not put a dent in the population! They are great target practice as you vary your shooting from 10 y to 150 y (or meters) shot after shot.

Hey Shooter

How many would you see when shooting them 1-10, 0-50,  50-100, 100+, 200+.
Just curious to get a mental picture of the little critters in a paddock.

under 100 meters, you can spot them as they generally stand tall out of their burrows and whistle. A gopher whistle helps keep them looking...we were in a large field in Saskatchewan and had gophers from 10 feet to 300 meters...the 150+ shots you need good optics since they move around..I am sure we busted through 500 rounds each easily in the afternoon from the 22lr up to the 223/22-250/221 fireball/17 fireballs etc....

good question.
Once you have the shot the fields once or twice, coyotes, fox, birds of prey, ravens and crows will gather as you start shooting...we shot a field once and must have shot 500-600 rds and many many gophers...we returned the next day for some shooting and the field was black with crows....having a free lunch

Do you shoot the Crows? Someone once told me the crows are bloody hard to shoot as they seem to know what you are up to and keep just far enough away. (much like the magpies over here)

generally it is frowned upon to shoot the scavenger birds, such as crows, ravens and seagulls. So not really, unless they are bothering me...
