Picked up an Osprey International 10-40x50 for my .17 ... Yes, I said a 10-40x50 for my 17!! With 8" sun shades. Very well build, the scope has wind, elevation, and parallax adj. The best part is the illuminated mil-dot that does an infinite range of red or green to be fit the time of day. The best part? Under $200...

There are A LOT of mixed reviews on this scope. One of my favorite I saw said "Same quality as Barska... nuff said." lol. Being that my .22-250 destroyed a barska 6.5-20x50mm scope in 9 shots when I was sighting it in. Funny thing was I had that scope on my hornet for at least 4 years and never had a problem with it till I put it on the 22-250.
I also saw some reviews saying that the scope can withstand the .50 BMG recoil, so I think its with all cheap $$$ scopes you take a gamble with them.

Exactly. I called Barska and talk to them, and to fix the scope or replace it, it will cost $48. Funny part is.. brand new the scope is around $60,lol. So yea that scope got thrown in the rubish bin.

Back to subject, I think that the osprey scope would be alright on a low recoil rifle. But honestly would you need a 10 power scope on a rifle that ballistic wise is a 150 yard rifle?

If you were wanting to punch paper or shoot very small varmints at 100+ yards. I can understand the need. Especially if your eye sight isn't 20-20.

I found I shot better groups at 100yds with 20x than with 6x or 12 x.
